Heating your home

A district heat network is comprised of 3 main elements:

 
 
 

1.

An energy centre that converts fuel into heat

2.

Insulated underground pipes transport the heat to the properties on the network

3.

A Heat Interface Unit (HIU) transfers the heat from the network to your home’s hot water and heating systems

What you need to know:

 
  • Getting your heat from Loka has been designed to remove the need for you to own, maintain, insure or replace a traditional boiler. We look after everything on the network from the Energy Centre through to the Heat Interface Unit (HIU) in your home. Everything is included in Loka’s price: servicing, maintenance, replacement, emergency callout, metering and billing. There will be nothing more to pay.

  • District heat networks are compulsory for all new large property developments in London. Loka is the sole supplier of heat on Greenwich Peninsula. When you buy or rent your home, you will also need to sign an exclusive heat supply contract with us.

  • There will be no random price-hikes. We review our prices every year, in line with the cost of gas and the official Consumer Prices Index (CPI). We have comprehensive safeguards in place to protect you, covering everything from the service you receive to the price you pay and how we address any problems that arise. We are answerable to the governance committee.

The Energy Centre

The low carbon Energy Centre sits at the heart of the Loka network - generating, distributing and recovering heat and power for the whole of Greenwich Peninsula. The 160-foot tower for the centre is clad in a striking new artwork called "The Optic Cloak", by Conrad Shawcross.
